Insurance Advisor, iA Private Wealth Insurance Agency and Investment Advisor, iA Private Wealth
Born in Lahr, West Germany, Scott's early life was spent on the move.
As part of a military family, this Canadian Forces Army brat's roving
beginnings merely whetted his appetite for learning more about the
world and meeting new people. It also taught him the value of
foresight, planning, and character – crucial qualities when helping
clients build effective plans for achieving their financial goals and
life dreams.
The demands of post-secondary education meant a decision to put
down roots for Scott. He chose Vancouver – for the opportunity to
mix studies at UBC with mountain bike racing on world-renowned
trails. After university, he began his career in the financial
sector, working for London Life and Balanced Planning Investments
Corporation in mentorship. Balanced Planning was soon acquired by
Cartier Partners, which was then bought by Dundee Wealth in 2004,
and in turn bought by Hollis Wealth in 2013. Scott has continued to
develop his financial advice practice, catering to young
professionals eager to achieve their financial objectives and
address contingency planning.
As an Insurance Advisor, Scott is a member in good standing with
Advocis - The Financial Advisors Association of Canada. Belonging to
this organization not only means subscribing to its code of ethics and
rules of conduct, but also maintaining a thorough knowledge of the
latest developments in financial planning through mandatory annual
training requirements.
In addition to developing comprehensive Financial Security Plans
for his clients, Scott also provides services in Mortgage Referrals,
Legal and Tax Referrals, and Corporate Investment and Insurance
needs such as buy-sell agreements, legacy planning, and compensation
agreements (i.e., Group RRSPs, Deferred Profit Sharing Plans, and
Employee Share Purchase Plans).
When Scott isn't working with clients, he's probably outside
somewhere: sea kayaking, hiking, coaching kids and adults the finer
points of Ultimate Frisbee, or just as often, in the mountains on his
snowboard in winter, or aboard a bike in summer. He's a big fan of
music festivals and giving back to his community too, having sat on
the board of the Million Dollar Club to benefit research into hemophilia.
He's a long way from growing up on army bases, but travel remains
an important part of Scott's life – for its unmatched ability to
broaden one's perspective, discover new ways to understand the
world, and see where we are going. He has learned the value of
careful planning and a good map, whether it's on the road or with
investment planning.
